Rob discusses how sellers can prepare their yard for prospective buyers.
Video Transcript: I'm Rob of Rob Brooks Realty. I was asked recently by a magazine editor what I suggest to sellers for preparing their yard for a house sale, so here's a few things I brought up.
One, sellers be careful of spending too much money. You're looking for return on investment and you can get very elaborate with outdoor kitchens or things and it's not going, may not bring the return of what you just spent on it, so think a bit more of staging your yard rather than putting new features into your yard. For example, I recommend a fire pit with some nice relaxing chairs maybe with pillows on those chairs kind of gathered around. Maybe on a grassy area you put a volleyball net out.
What you don't want as a seller for a buyer to walk into your yard and say “huh, nice large yard”. No, what you want is for that buyer to walk into your yard and say “hey in this grassy area over here I could play with my kids and over here I could have a good time with my friends in the evening”. So you want them as buyers to see themselves in your yard using it.
