Brrr. Things have been a little on the chilly side around here. But in the grand scheme of things, we are very blessed to live where we don't have to wonder how we are going to get to work due to a snow storm or more importantly, how we are going to make it home. All of us who live in what we refer to as "paradise" joked last week about a snow storm hitting the Emerald Coast. Some would even say that we reacted as if one literally did by stocking up on the basics such as water, food and flashlights, but when all was said and done, we didn't have a snow storm- we had snow days- and we did react by sledding down the bridges in laundry baskets. How does this apply to the local real estate market? A study conducted by Trulia from December 1st to January 21st showed that these low record breaking temperatures increased the number of home searches in the South and West- especially in warmer areas and vacation areas. The study also showed that in select cities in Florida, there was a 1% increase in the home searches. A few of this cities were Jacksonville, Miami and Winter-Haven. The biggest increase in vacation home searches was along the coast of Florida.
