Cantonment

Cantonment is located in Escambia County only ten miles from Downtown Pensacola. Cantonment is a growing residential area in the panhandle of Florida. Its close proximity to Downtown Pensacola and its continuing residential developments make this growing area a great place to live.

History & Activities

Cantonment received its name after the meaning of temporary quarters for military persons. Andrew Jackson was the inspiration behind this name after he and his troops camped in the area in 1814.

Cantonment offers you a little of both worlds. Its freshwaters and parks give you the opportunity to hike, fish and camp in this region, but it is also a short drive from the famous sandy white beaches of Northwest Florida. Becks Fish Camp and Wildlife Refuge is one of the parks in Cantonment that provide you a recreational area to get out and explore what we have to offer in this area of the Sunshine State.

A Place To Call Home

If you want a taste of the beautiful modern Downtown Pensacola, freshwater recreation and lifestyle that our beautiful beaches provide, Cantonment is a place you want to consider moving to. Within a ten mile distance from it are two colleges: the University of West Florida and Pensacola State College. Other schools in the area are J.M. Tate Senior High School, Ransom Middle School and Jim Allen Elementary School.
