Perdido Key

In the corner of Northwest Florida lies one of the best kept secrets in the Florida Panhandle. A stretch undisturbed sand dunes and beach runs for sixteen miles along the Coast. This treasure, known as Perdido Key, is an island nestled between Pensacola, Florida and Orange Beach, Alabama.

History & Activities

The Spanish discovered Perdido Key in 1693 giving it the name Perdido Key, translated to mean “Lost Key.” It is one of the last undisturbed areas in the Panhandle of Florida. Over half of the island is located in a federal or state park, such as the Perdido Key State Park and the Big Lagoon State Recreation Area, which have been voted as “Best in America.”

These parks provide protection to the wildlife and habitat by providing boardwalks to the beach to keep traffic off of the vegetation growing on the sand dunes. The area is a perfect place to take your family to enjoy activities such as surfing, swimming, a beach picnic, nature trails and relaxation. Don’t forget to bring man’s best friend with you. Much of Perdido is pet friendly and offers many accommodations to your pet if you are visiting.

Perdido Key truly does offer a sense of paradise whether you live or visit the island.
